CD COMMENT: We started off with the thought of comedy songs this year, but the more we looked for those types of songs, the more we found they were scarce (or very vulgar). We decided to put that theme on hold and go with some other heavier songs we found. I already knew I wanted to do a Metal Christmas CD for quite some time, but those songs are really few and far between. So, we blended two themes together, Metal and Guitar Virtuoso, to get this odd CD.
ART WORK COMMENT: Choosing the images is the easy part these days. It's the song title artwork that becomes the issue. I originally wanted to do the entire back wording in the 'Ribbon' font that you see on the spines of the CD. However, this given the size of the font needed, it looked horrible. I had to play around with quite a few variations of fonts and styles to come up with the end result. What made it so difficult was having three colors on a font that is already tough to read. So, this was a challenge. In the end it came out OK, but it's not my favorite.
SONG COMMENT: It was hard to find all Metal songs for a Christmas CD, so we blended Metal with Guitar Virtuoso styles. I've been looking to put 'Mistress For Christmas' and 'Christmas With The Devil' on a CD for a while. I was saving them for a comedy theme CD, but they fit into the Metal CD just fine. While going over dozens of horribly bad Metal CDs we did find the It Dies Today version of Feliz Navidad a bit funny.
MATLERIALS COMMENT: Everything went smooth this year. We used Memorex & Epsom photo paper, TDK CDs and the black tray liners. We also printed on Memorex CD labels and Avery address labels.
DRAKE INTRO: Drake says, 'Buddy The Elf. What's your favorite color?'. Then he says, 'Francisco. That's fun to say... Francisco.'. He then finishes up by singing, 'I'm Singing. I'm in a store and I'm singing.'.
DRAKE OUTRO: Dake says, 'This is the last year I'm going to be doing this CD. Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.'. He also made a sound with his lips that sounds like 'pffft' that I cut and paste in six spots. Later in the song he sings 'Jingle Bells' by mouth farting.
